Make a web gallery with comments

  1. Populate you database with images using the "Add" image tab.
  2. Add comments to each image. First bring up the Metadata Editor, by right-clicking the image (it's thumbnail or entry on the File browser) and choosing the "Edit metadata..." option on the context-menu.
  3. Add all images of interest to a Work batch: For example, if they are in a directory, right click on their directory (while browsing by File) and select "Add to batch". You can examine and manage the current work batch on the "Tools -> Work batch" menu option.
  4. Then on the "Tools" menu you have the "Create HTML album" option. Select it.
  5. You should then see the current work batch contents. If this is the target you want, click Next
  6. On this next page, select which captions you want. If you entered comments as the "Description" meta field, select it, by clicking on it's name and then clicking on the right arrow. Then click on Next
  7. Then you need to choose all options related to the destination of your html album. A common choice would be placing everything on a specified path. Then click "Finish" and you are done.

Populating a work batch

  • You can add to a Work batch a single image, a directory of images, a group of images or a volume of images. Note that adding a Volume means all images inside this volume will belong to this batch. The same applies for directories and groups.
  • To do so, right-click on the item (ie, on the image item while browsing, or the Volume name while browsing by Files), and select "Add to batch"
  • Done. You can later remove or create new batches for later usage using the Batch editor. To open it, choose the "Work batch" option under the "Tools" menu.

Removing duplicate files on your collection

  1. First create a work batch with all the images where you want to look for duplicates. Generally you may want to add individual Volumes to a batch. Refer to the previous howto entry. Then click Next
  2. The Luminance comparison is really fast and works most of the time, so you should choose that if you have a huge collection. You may also specify other common properties to be taken into account when looking for duplicates. Then click "Next" and it should start showing results.
  3. To remove an image, select it and click on the Garbage icon (top right corner of the wizard dialog). You may select multiple images by CTRL-clicking them.
